“Ly”
東京生まれ。ペインター。白と黒と、30種類以上の多彩なグレーを使い、海外で訪れた街並みや、幼い時から想像していたランドスケープ（風景）を描く。
その風景には自身の気持ちや想いを投影したモンスター”LUV”(ルーヴ)が彷徨う。
７歳よりアートスクールで絵を描き、高校の時、ストリートアートに出会い、ミューラル、グラフィティの魅力を知り、影響を受ける。
東京を中心に日本、アメリカ、パリ、バンコク、マレーシアなど国内外でミューラルを残し、
自分が想像する完璧なランドスケープをストリートの壁に描くために制作している。
また、残したミューラルやストリートアートがローカルに根付くこと、その作品を通した人々とのコミュニケーションを目指し制作している。
- Q1：まずあなたのバックグラウンドを教えてもらえますか？またLYという名前はどこから生まれたのですか？
- 絵を描くことが好きで幼少からアートスクールに通っていました。
10代の頃にスケートやグラフィティなどのストリートカルチャーに興味を持ち、影響を受けました。
名前は’’L”と”Y”の並びの形が好きでつけました。 - Q2：坩堝には2度目の参加となりますが過去と現在でLyさんの環境も大きく変わっているようですね？どのような変化が起こりましたか？
- 当時は感情の動くままに描くことが多かったのですが、いまは”背景”や”ストーリー”を表現できるようになりました。 もともと描きたかったストリートや街並み、ランドスケープを中心に制作しています。
- Q3：馬喰町にコーヒースタンドをオープンしましたよね？どのような経緯でオープンする事になったのでしょうか？
- 制作をサポートしてもらっているペイント会社の１階にあったコーヒースタンドの人が辞めたので私がやってみようかなと思って。
- Q4：白、黒、グレーを使うLyさんの色味にバリエーションが増え30種類以上の多彩なグレーを使っていますがなぜグレーにこだわりを持っているのでしょうか？
- 初めは黒と白のみで描いていたのですが、6年ほど前に、絵を描きたくなくなったことがありました。その時に、友人といったスケートパークのグレーが嫌になったなんとも言えない心情と合いました。黒と白以外の色を使う時は、使う色に使う意味を持った時にしようと決めていたので、その時のグレーがすごく希望の色に見え、意味を持ちました。その時から、グレーの色を使うようになり、心情に合わせて様々なグレーを使っています。
- Q5：今後のLyさんのプロジェクトなど決まっている事、やりたい事などがあれば教えてください。
- ミューラルの制作がいくつかあり、秋にはパリで開催されるアートフェアにも参加します。やりたいことは、ローカルに根付くミューラルを残すことです。
- Q6：最後にペインターを目指す若手へ一言お願いします。
- 好きなものを迷わずたくさん描いて下さい。
- Q1： First of all, could you tell your background? As well, your name LY, where did it come from?
- I like drawing and I had been doing it in art school since I was a kid.When I was a teenager, I was interested in street culture such as skateboarding and graffiti, and influenced by them.Regarding my name of LY, I just like the shape of L and Y together.
- Q2： This is second time for you to collaborate with RUTSUBO, and your environment looks changed a lot comparing to last time. What kind of change did you get?
- In the past, most of the time, I was drawing as I felt emotionally, but recently, I’m getting used to express the background and the story of the artworks.In these days, I work with street, townscape and landscape which I originally wanted to draw.
- Q3： You opened a coffee stand in Bakurocho in Tokyo. What was the story that made you to do it?
- It’s just because an owner of a coffee shop placed in 1st floor of a painting company, which supports my work, closed down a business I thought I might give a try.
- Q4 : Basically, you used to use black, white and gray on your drawing but in these days, you use more than 30 kinds of several gray colors. What is your policy about gray color?
- At the beginning, I was drawing only with black and white but around six years ago, I suddenly wanted to draw and paint.One day, I went to a skate park with my friend and I didn’t know why but I felt like that I didn’t like the “gray” of the skate park somehow which is tough to explain.I had been thinking that I use colors only when the color has meaning to be used, and “gray colors” gave me the meaning at that time and the gray looked very hopeful to me.Since then, I use gray colors and use several gray colors based on my feeling and emotion.
- Q5： Please tell your ongoing project and/or things you want to try.
- I have some mural painting work, and I’ll send my artwork to an art fair held in Paris in this fall.
What I want to do is to create and leave murals which are based on local. - Q6：Please give a message to people who aims to be a painter.
- Draw and paint whatever you like with no hesitation.
